Vacancy for housekeeper/chef
Godwick Hall is a recently opened luxury Bed and Breakfast in north Norfolk. It is a classy and upmarket establishment which now requires a Housekeeper/Chef. We have four boutique Bed & Breakfast rooms accommodating up to nine guests.
An overview of the job
We are looking for someone who can cook breakfasts for guests, plan menus and cook some evening meals and be in charge of housekeeping and room cleaning. It’s a new business, so a high degree of flexibility is required, as well as good personal skills, an eye for detail to ensure high standards, a welcoming and friendly personality and the ability to consistently cook and serve good food to our customers.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to work in a new exciting business and would relish the challenge of playing a part in developing its success and their career at the same time.
Where is it?
Godwick Hall is located six miles south of Fakenham and is part of a series of hospitality businesses run by myself, James Garner, including Godwick Great Barn.
What is our philosophy?
Our philosophy is simple. We want to offer a great range of experiences for paying customers in this unique location, whether it is the bride and groom at a wedding at Godwick Great Barn or Bed and Breakfast customers. Customer service is paramount and we want every client to have an outstanding experience during their stay at Godwick Hall.
What are the main duties?
Main duties include, breakfast preparation, cleaning the kitchen after breakfast, cleaning the four rooms, pre check-in room preparation, welcoming guests and checking-in when required, planning menus for evening meals for up to 18 people, cooking and serving evening meals, maintaining food hygiene records, managing laundry requirements with external laundry supplier.
What skills and experience do you need?
Cooking and food preparation skills, high standards of presentation, food safety and hygiene qualifications, good people skills, ability to think on your feet, creativity, excellent organisation and a good standard of English language skills. We are looking for someone with a passion for cooking, an understanding of local and seasonal produce when planning and costing menus and the ability to present food attractively for guests.
Godwick is in a rural location so you must have a driving licence and access to reliable transport. Godwick Hall is a non-smoking environment.
You will be part of a small team of three and must be able to co-exist in the same space as the owner, particularly when using the kitchen.
Hours and Pay
Pay rates will be competitive. Godwick Hall is a new Bed & Breakfast business launched this year so initially the successful candidate must be willing to be flexible about the number of days each week they work as this will depend on levels of bookings as the business becomes established.
Hours are likely to be approximately 3.5 hours a day: usually between 7am – 11am. The ability to work weekends as well as during the week is a fundamental requirement.
The role will initially be on a casual basis until next summer when a permanent position may become available. If additional responsibility is taken on over time, the rate of pay will be reviewed.
Please apply in writing with your CV, a covering letter and a recent photograph. References will be required so please include details of two referees we may contact. Please indicate the rate of pay that you would require for this role.
Interested candidates must be willing to take part in an interview process, which will include cooking a breakfast.
